Who are we?

Be’ad Chaim, a non-profit organization in Israel, has made it our goal to help women in unplanned pregnancies by providing private and confidential counseling, practical assistance, and education for various population segments in the land.

Counseling – Be’ad Chaim has eight pregnancy help centers throughout the country (in Jerusalem, Netanya, Haifa, Tiberias, Be’er Sheva, Ashkelon, Nazareth and the Krayot)

• These centers offer free counseling while maintaining absolute confidentiality.

• Our multi-lingual counselors provide phone support most hours of the day in Russian, Arabic, Hebrew and English.

• Our counselors undergo training in order to provide accurate information on abortion practices in Israel, the affects of abortion on women, and abstinence and birth control.

• They also offer to support the pregnant woman throughout her pregnancy and beyond by accompanying her to doctor’s appointments, provide ongoing emotional support, and offer practical help.

Practical help - Our centers offer the following help free of cost:

• Counseling on natal nutrition, stages of pregnancy, fetal development etc.

• Ultrasound imaging to confirm the pregnancy (currently only available on a limited basis in Jerusalem. Subject to liability release)

• If necessary, alternative housing during the months of pregnancy

• Support during delivery and hospital visitation (if requested)

• After birth, we distribute, depending on the need, baby supplies such as a crib, a stroller, baby bath, baby carrier, clothing and other peripheral equipment. We also provide diapers and formula on a monthly basis for the first year of a baby’s life through “Project Moses”

Education - A large portion of our resources and time go towards informing youth and women on the issues that will affect their reproductive health. This includes:

• Distribution of books and pamphlets that describe the development of the baby in the womb, the physical and psychological repercussions of abortions, and the implications of “safe” and “free sex”.

• Our website www.beadchaim.org.il contains a wide range of pertinent and interesting information on the subjects of pregnancy and abortions. Though there is a sister site in English, the Hebrew language site is far more developed.

• Free distribution of a short DVD on the development of the baby in the womb as seen in ultrasound imagery (Window into the Womb). Originally this DVD was intended for waiting rooms in hospitals where women go for their natal testing but is now also given to teachers and principles of public schools as well.

• Two well-attended annual youth conferences (one for girls and one for boys) and speak at youth conferences on the subject of “the dangers of free sex outside of marriage.”

• Several organized gatherings and short conferences around the country on Post Abortion Syndrome (PAS) for women suffering from mental and traumatic repercussions of abortion.

• A family issues magazine, Beynenu (Between Us), in both Hebrew and English, is distributed freely to congregations and individuals in Israel. Beynenu goes to print three to four times a year. The 16 page magazine contains practical articles to encourage strong and caring parenting. One issue may contain articles on maintaining discipline, spending quality time with toddlers, a testimony of a single mom, an article encouraging moms to educate children early on about sex, internet safety for families, and several columns.
